I have to find ways to entertain myself when I'm home 24/7. I found a pack of origami paper in my room, so I thought I would re-learn how to fold paper cranes. I was thinking of using them to decorate my dorm room next year, so I experimented with decorating my room in California today.
This was the original idea, did it about 2 years ago when I lived in Shanghai. I remember my old school folded a lot of paper cranes for Japan. I just stringed them up and hung them by the window.
And this is what I came up with today.
I stuck them on the ceiling right above my bed, kind of reminds me of a baby crib mobile. I tried to maintain a color scheme (the bright floral one doesn't really match, but I just really like the pattern). I also tried to put them in a descending order, but it's not really obvious.
Don't they look like little pterosaurs? :)
I love this one. The crystals on the ceiling lamp became really nice bokeh.
Oh hey.
Doing this kind of reminds me of installation arts that are popular nowadays. I'm not sure if you would call this installation, but I guess it's somewhat similar. I think it turned out pretty successful, so I'll definitely do this for my room next year, perhaps a larger scale, and perhaps with different kinds of blue paper. I might go to Tokyo this August (awww yeah! Even though I reaally want to go to Thailand too), so hopefully I can get some really nice, traditional origami paper there. I'll also try to find invisible thread to replace the white one I used today...the white one bugs me. The invisible one will look much cooler. I've never done any installation arts before, but hey, this is fun.
